For my Games and Simulations for Learning course I tested playing a web-based game called Gamestar Mechanic and later reflected on the lessons it taught me. On of my favorite lessons learned was that when designing a game for students to play, they must endure a struggle. I want students to persevere, fail quickly, and learn from previous mistakes so they can be successful.
This artifact reflects my educational technology philosophy because I believe students need instructional activity that requires critical thinking and poses relevant problems to solve. I also want learners to be able to pose relevant questions, evaluate sources they find relevant and apply that information to develop solutions to the problems they are presented with. This deep understanding helped me when I completed my game design. |
