technology grant proposal project
In my ETEC 579 course, Implementation of Ed Tech Programs, I wrote a grant proposal that demonstrates my abilities to communicate in several different mediums: written, visual and through peer-feedback. The first task was to develop a Purpose Statement that served as an anchor of the project. My purpose was:
"Agnew Middle School desires to build student capacity in the area of computer science by providing the coding club with relevant technology tools and resources such as Spheros, Micro:bits and Raspberry Pis because students need to be able to apply learned computational thinking towards solving real-world problems."
The next step produced a written proposal brief where I request funding for Computer Science devices and peripherals that would help our campus coding club so they could build and design solutions for projects they are working on. I have also included a video to enhance one’s understanding of what is being asked for. This video proves my skill in presenting a technically sound media presentation.
This course has taught me how to present a need or request for technology, based on research, and |

articulate how it can help the learning process. Arguably, though, the more important lesson learned was the value of peer feedback during the creation process of this project. It was developed in small chunks, and I had to rely on my communication skills to share those with my peers, listen to their feedback, and tweak each piece until it was ready to be assembled. Much thought and consideration went in to this creation, and I am confident the technology chosen to complete this project enhances its meaning to all who view it.
Article review: Media Research Study
Reading and analyzing lengthy educational research studies has never been a strongpoint for me. But, for my ETEC 562: Applying Instructional Media and Technology course where I was given the task to find an article that reported the results of a research study using instructional media, I wasn't thrilled. Alas, when I found an article about Instructional Media and Learner Motivation I was intrigued to find what the results of this study were. After reading the article, my job was

to review and communicate my findings. Here is a link to my notes where I planned out my review. It it I summarized the article, shared its strengths and weaknesses, presented its findings, tied it to a learning theorist and drew my own conclusions based on the findings. This review demonstrated my ability to report and communicate on works from educators and theorists. I also received a big boost of confidence when my instructor noted this was a "thoughtful and well written review."
digital storytelling Project
For one of my elective courses, I chose a class called ETEC 528: Digital Storytelling. As a former Social Studies teacher I love hearing and telling stories, so I thought it would be fun to get the opportunity to fine tune the digital skills needed to create online stories. For our main project I chose a prompt that asked us to explore the story behind our name. This assignment taught me the importance of being organized through the planning process, not just when you're creating videos, but for any project. Here is a link to my design document that will detail the behind the scenes of the making of my video. It was literally a working progress from week 1 to week 4 of the course.
This planning document and finished video showcase my ability to take a variety of media, seamlessly fold it together and produce a product that communicates a story to the world (made with iMovie at that). It is my sincere hope that I was able to communicate my thoughts and findings in an effective manner that actually enhanced my story.

course blogs
Several courses I was enrolled in had weekly blog assignments where we either play-tested or reflected on something. I feel like this format enabled me to communicate a bit differently - in a more informal setting where I could express myself a bit more freely. The blogs I kept also showcase my ability to present and embed my writing with supporting visual representations such as hyperlinks, videos and actual examples of my work. Here are the links to each blog I kept throughout this process:
Twitter reflection
About two years ago I intentionally began using Twitter fas a source for my PLN. I also wanted teachers to see that Twitter isn't another thing you have to do; I wanted them to want to do it. I showed them how to connect with each other in a different way than they can in their PLCs. I helped Twitter to become part of their PLN - personal learning network because it offers a diverse network of fellow educators and resources who are designed to make us better teachers. I am constantly learning new things from those I follow and have picked up a few followers myself. My Twitter feed below should demonstrate my skills and abilities in effectively communicating in written and digital formats. The tweets and thoughts below represent my own personal opinions.
